This is a great little community cafe where all meals are made using food that supermarkets and shops would have sent to landfill. All the meals are prepared in house and the menu changes daily based on what ever they have been gifted. It is a pay as you feel cafe. You can also pay it forward for someone else as Millie the owner feeds locals for free if they are in need. There are regular dining events, community events and a weekly Share Shop where you can buy surplus food for a donation. They recently started using the Too Good to Go App and we have had great value prepared soups, curry, deserts, cakes and puddings, breads and more. A great way to do your bit for the planet whilst enjoying a tasty meal.

We had the absolute pleasure of visiting Northern Soul Kitchens during our stay in Berwick, and wow—this place is a hidden gem! Without a doubt, it served one of the best English breakfasts we’ve ever had!The staff were all very friendly, welcoming, and clearly passionate about great food and service. We’ll absolutely be returning next time we’re in the area!

What a find! Great food and enthusiastic owners, with an ethical twist. The locally roasted coffee was especially great. If lived here, I'd be a regular.

Great concept, making use of food that would otherwise go to waste. Excellent coffee and light lunch - sandwiches, soups etc. Nice atmosphere.

A must to visit when in the area. The cafe uses surplus food to make fantastic lunchtime meals. A wonderful initiative, great service and very friendly. I was lucky to get a table as very busy and popular with local people and visiting. A lovely atmosphere, will definitely visit again when in the area.

Northern Soul is a gem of a place! The café intercepts food from local supermarkets, that would have otherwise been binned, and turns them into delicious meals. This means that the menu is constantly changing. From sandwiches and pies to soups, curries and stir fries. They’re pretty good at providing vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and dairy free. I love their ethos of ‘feeding bellies and not bins’.There are set prices for teas, coffees, home-made spritzers and cakes. However for the meals they have a ‘Pay as you Feel’ during the week. Sundays is posh brunch time, where there is a set price, but for the quality of the locally sourced and organic ingredients it’s a good plate of items.I’ve visited quite often and it’s always fun to see what’s on the menu and the food has never disappointed. Book ahead if you want Sunday posh brunch. You realise pretty soon, that the place is more like a community hub than a café and the atmosphere in there is always warm and friendly. It’s such a wonderful place, and thoroughly deserves all the love and support it can get.
